Abseiling with Paulo

Today I met Paulo thru a contact of mine to start work on my new project.  Paulo works at Kelly’s Basecamp in Dee Why and loves to get out and abseil in Ku-ring-Gai National Park whenever he can.  My day with Paulo was a chance to see what abseiling is all about and make some images capturing the outdoor lifestyle.  The waterfall that we were abseiling was about 40metres in height and was running with a small trickle of cold water.  I know it was cold as I had a go at abseiling for my first time after listening to Paulo’s clear and safe instructions, thanks buddy.

What a great location we were at and all within 30min of our homes.  Elvina Bay is accessed by ferry from Church Point as Paulo did or by driving into the park like I did and following the well marked trails from the main road.  Spring is definitely upon us as Paulo said only two weeks ago it was just green bush, now the fields are full of colour, get out there and enjoy the warm sun.

As we walked back up we talked about how the images from today could be used in this project and about future outings, watch this spot as there will be more posts to come with details.

Thx
Gil.

Paddle for Pete @ Palmy

Last week a couple of photographer buddies asked me if I was free to come out and shoot at a Stand Up Paddle (SUP) race in Palm Beach.  It sounded like an interesting change to what I am use to so we headed out at 7.30 after our morning caffeine hit.  The sun was shining bright and upon arrival it was obvious that a fun and entertaining day was going to be had.

Once we arrived at Palmy, I realised I was in for something more special than just a regular race.  A great bunch of like-minded people who were out to raise money for the Royal North Shore Intensive Care Unit and in memory of a man who died last year.  It was obvious that this bunch love the outdoor lifestyle and I really enjoyed being able to be there to capture the day.  The organizers, Kristen Wolthers and Peter Morgan, of Paddle for Pete put on a very respectable event and it was clear that everyone in attendance took pride in the remembrance of Peter Bilsborough.

Thx
